In this house, we obey the laws of thermodynamics

I saw a video with a perpetual motion machine. These guys in Australia have created a machine that uses magnets to continue propelling a shaft after it has been kick-started by a battery and apparently produces five times the energy it consumes. I’m skeptical, since ever since the wheel was invented, man has tried to create a machine that didn’t require an outside energy source to power it and has failed. That isn’t to say it’s not true; just that it defies everything we currently know about physics. I get nervous when we start contradicting the principles we’ve come to understand in science. More reasons I should just move into the cave and decide never to look out again.

  1. Well, aren’t you a tease! Talk up the perpetual motion video, and then don’t give us any links…

Well, I suppose I don’t really need links. Instead of spending 10 minutes looking at your Australian perpetual motion people, I goofed away a smooth hour looking at other peoples’.

Also, if the Aussies have it figured out for reals (which, of course, they don’t), James Randi has a cool million waiting for them in the bank: http://www.randi.org/joom/challenge-info.html

  2. Somehow i missed the point. Probably lost in translation 🙂 Anyway … nice blog to visit.

    cheers, Squirmer
